What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your browser or device. They let a site remember information between page loads and between visits — for example, that you already added a squat rack to your cart, or that you prefer a particular region and currency.

This policy also covers related technologies we treat the same way: local storage and session storage (data kept by your browser rather than sent with every request), pixels and clear GIFs (tiny images that report whether a page or email was opened), and software development kits embedded by service providers.

Cookies are either session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which remain for a set period. They are also either first-party (set by fitmax.com) or third-party (set by another domain whose service runs on our pages).

How We Use Cookies

We use cookies to operate the store and to understand how it is used. Specifically, cookies allow us to keep your shopping cart and session intact as you move between product pages, complete checkout and process payment securely, keep you signed in to your account, remember display preferences such as region and units, measure which pages and product categories are actually useful, detect fraud and abusive automated traffic, and — where permitted — measure and target advertising.

We do not use cookies to collect payment card numbers, and we do not use them to infer health conditions or medical status.

Categories of Cookies We Use

Strictly Necessary. Required for the site to function and cannot be switched off through our interface. They maintain your cart contents, preserve your checkout session and order state, authenticate logins, apply security and rate-limiting protections, load-balance traffic, and remember your cookie choices. Without these, adding to cart and completing an order will not work.

Performance & Analytics. Help us count visits, see traffic sources, and understand how shoppers move through the catalog — for example, which rack or treadmill pages are viewed before a purchase, where checkout is abandoned, and how quickly pages load. Data is used in aggregate to improve merchandising, page speed, and product content.

Functionality. Remember choices you make so the site feels consistent: language and region, recently viewed equipment, saved wishlists, whether you dismissed a banner, and pre-filled shipping details for returning customers. Disabling these does not break the store but makes it less convenient.

Advertising & Targeting. Set by us or by advertising partners to build a limited profile of your interests, limit how often you see the same ad, measure campaign performance, and show relevant FITMAX products on other sites — for example, retargeting a bench or plate set you viewed but did not buy. These cookies may be linked to identifiers that persist across sites.

Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are set by service providers whose tools run on our pages. Depending on your location, your consent choices, and the features enabled at the time of your visit, these may include:

  • WooCommerce and WordPress — cart contents, session state, and logged-in status (strictly necessary);
  • Payment and fraud providers — secure processing and risk scoring during checkout;
  • Google Analytics — aggregated traffic and behavior measurement;
  • Google Ads and Google Tag Manager — conversion measurement and tag delivery;
  • Meta Pixel — advertising measurement and audience building for Facebook and Instagram;
  • Embedded media and support tools — video players, review widgets, and live-chat or helpdesk services;
  • Email and marketing platforms — open and click measurement in our newsletters.

This list is illustrative rather than exhaustive, and providers may change as we update the site. Third-party cookies are governed by the privacy policies of the companies that set them; we do not control the data they collect once it leaves our pages.

Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You can control cookies through your browser settings, where you can view stored cookies, delete them, block third-party cookies, or block all cookies. The controls are usually found under Settings, then Privacy and Security, in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge; mobile browsers offer equivalent options. Most browsers also offer a private or incognito mode that clears cookies when the window closes.

Please note: if you block or delete strictly necessary cookies, the shopping cart will not retain items, checkout may fail or repeatedly reset, and you will not be able to stay signed in to your account. Clearing cookies also erases saved preferences and any cookie choice you previously recorded, so you may be asked again.

To limit interest-based advertising specifically, you can use the industry opt-out pages operated by the Digital Advertising Alliance and the Network Advertising Initiative, and the ad-settings controls offered by Google and Meta. Opting out of targeting does not stop ads; it makes them less relevant. Do Not Track

Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is still no common industry standard for how a site must interpret it, and fitmax.com does not currently respond to DNT signals. We do honor legally recognized opt-out preference signals where required, including Global Privacy Control (GPC) for California residents, and we honor choices you submit to us directly using the contact details below.

Changes to This Cookie Policy

We will update this policy when we add or remove tools, when categories change, or when the law requires it. The revised version takes effect when posted and the “Last updated” date above will change. Material changes affecting how we use advertising cookies will be highlighted on the site.
